Sarajevo Winter Festival (curation, 2011–2012)
Sarajevo Winter Festival (2011–2012)
The Sarajevo Winter Festival is one of the most established cultural festivals in the Balkans. Founded in 1984, it was never interrupted, not even during the Bosnian war (1992–1995), becoming a symbol of resistance and cultural continuity. My relationship with Sarajevo has always been close, and my participation in the 2011 and 2012 editions was an opportunity to build bridges between Spanish creators and the city’s artistic vitality.
In both editions, I was responsible for curation (photography and audiovisuals), as well as communication and coordination with the festival, the participating artists, and institutions. The work involved collaborating with the Spanish Embassy in Sarajevo and the Institut Ramon Llull to coordinate the arrival and participation of around twenty artists in the city.
Sarajevo Winter Festival – 2011 Edition
From 9 to 12 February 2011, the festival hosted the exhibition Audiovisual Whims of an Eggplant at the Academy of Performing Arts of Sarajevo, featuring works by creators such as Pere Portabella (Vampir), Isaki Lacuesta (Las Variaciones Marker), among others. On that occasion, I presented my first creative documentary (Folk Song) in the same venue where Susan Sontag premiered Waiting for Godot during the siege (1992), and where Jean-Luc Godard recorded his masterclass for Notre Musique. It was a particularly meaningful moment.

The Sarajevo Winter Festival 2012 consolidated the continuity of this collaboration with the presence of some of the most prominent voices in contemporary Spanish photography, including Laia Abril (National Photography Prize 2023), Tanit Plana, and Lourdes Basolí, among others.
